Diagnosis & Testing Using Diag Test Charts (500SEL, 500SL)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500SEL and 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Following SRS test charts require M-B Test Cable (124-589-35-63-00), M-B Socket Box Tester (124-589-00-21-00) and a high impedance DVOM or a M-B Multimeter (124-589-19-21-00).
- Disconnect and shield negative battery cable. Connect one end of M-B Test Cable (124-589-35-63-00) to M-B Socket Box Tester(124-589-00-21-00) and other end to appropriate SRS Red diagnostic connector. See SRS RED CONNECTOR LOCATION table under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. See Fig 1 or Fig 2 . Reconnect negative battery cable.
- For all resistance and voltage measurements, use a high impedance DVOM or M-B Multimeter (124-589-19-21-00). Measure resistance and voltage by probing socket box tester terminals. DO NOT probe air bag connectors, as damage and/or personal injury may result. See appropriate SRS diagnostic test charts for diagnosis. See SRS DIAGNOSTIC TEST CHART DIRECTORY table.
