REMOVINGINSTALLING Removing, installing     
1 Remove, install steering knuckle Check bearing seats of tapered roller bearings and contact surface of radial seal ring for wear and tear. ra33001240400x
2 Remove centering pin (5c) from steering knuckle (5), install.    
MEASURING Measuring     
3 Support steering knuckle pins between the tips of a lathe and check for lateral runout by turning slowly. COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS *WH58.30-Z-1008-12A

4 Check mounting bore of the steering knuckle for distortion using a shop-made measuring pin (016). To do this, clamp the steering knuckle at the inner bearing seat of the tapered roller bearing (arrows) in a three-jaw chuck. Test values 
Determine the difference dimension (a) between the bearing surface and the center of the measuring pin (016). The measuring pin must seat flush in the mounting bore of the steering knuckle.
