Removal, installation and adjustment of driver's door - RA72001290050X(72-050)
Preliminary jobs:
Door liner removed (72-100) .
Operation number of the operation texts and work units or standard texts and flat rates respectively
| Electrical and pneumatic lines on driver's door | disconnect and expose. |
| Position of door hinges on attachment surface on front pillar (arrow) | mark to avoid time-consuming adjustment when reinstalling the driver's door. |
| Rubber grommet (8) | pull off. |
| Circlip (2) on bolt (4) | remove. |
| Bolt (4) | remove, use special tool 124 589 00 61 00. |
| Spacer (3) and rubber grommet (8) | remove. |
| Oval conduit | unclip on driver's door with plastic wedge. |
| Screws (7) on front pillar | screw out, 25 Nm (4 each). |
| Driver's door (1) | remove toward rear while pulling out the exposed electric and pneumatic lines at the opening on the end of the inner door panel. |
Special tool
Installation and adjustment
- Insert electrical and pneumatic lines through opening on end of door inner panel.
- Position driver's door hinges on attachment surfaces of front pillar and tighten screws in hinges lightly.
- Fasten door retainer on front pillar.
- Screw off striker eye.
- Align driver's door on hinge side so that the door panelling on the driver's door is flush with the contour of the front fender or max. 1 mm lower.
- Check gap around driver's door and correct, if required.
Gap width (60-070) .
- Tighten screws on hinges.
- Screw on striker eye, however do not tighten.
- Insert centering gauge into door lock until lock catches completely (latch stage 2).
The centering gauges for the left and right door locks are different. Observe marking "L" or "R".
- Position depth stop on outer door panel at height of striker eye and close door until depth stop contacts on both sides.
- Press striker eye into centering gauge from inside through open window and tighten screws (17 Nm).
- Pull outer door handle and remove centering gauge.
- Check door for easy motion.
- Reinstall in reverse order.
