Lowering Soft Top
WARNING:
Before operating soft/hard top switch, ensure that no persons are near moving parts. DO NOT place your hands near roll bar, soft top frame, upper windshield area, soft top storage compartment and soft top lid, while soft top is being locked or unlocked. Serious personal injury may occur.
NOTE:
A minimum height clearance of 6.5 ft (2 m) is required to lower or raise soft top. DO NOT lower a frozen soft top until thawed and dried. Doing so may result in damage. To prevent mildew, soft top must be dry before lowering it into storage compartment. The soft top should not be lowered or raised at outside temperatures below 5°F (-15°C), since the material becomes less pliable with lower temperatures. Lowering or raising procedure is immediately interrupted by releasing the soft/hard top switch.
NOTE:
During removal and installation procedures the numbers in parentheses, within steps, correspond to numbers inside the illustration(s). The word arrow(s) in parentheses, within steps, is used to point out specific components or movement.
- Set parking brake.
- Turn ignition key to position 2. See Figure .
- Slide soft/hard top switch (28) back and hold, see Figure
. System operation:
- Side windows lower.
- Roll bar lowers.
- Indicator lamp in the soft/hard top switch lights up.
- Soft top is lowered into the soft top storage compartment.
- Storage compartment cover closes and locks.
- Indicator lamp in the soft/hard top switch goes out and the lowering procedure is completed.
