Hard Top: Notes

WARNING: DO NOT touch top linkage, upper part of windshield or top compartment, while top is being locked or unlocked. DO NOT place your hands between hard top and car body while hard top is being locked or unlocked. DO NOT place your hands near roll bar, while bar is being operated. Serious personal injury may occur.
WARNING: Ensure hard top is locked into position. Installation procedures of hard top is not completed, if indicator lamp in soft/hard top switch, does not go out with ignition key in position 2, or lamp blinks and when starting to drive vehicle an audible alarm is sounded. If any of these condition are present, when it is safe to do so, immediately stop vehicle and lock the hard top. See step  6 and  7 under INSTALLING HARD TOP. DO NOT drive car with hard top not locked, as that could cause personal injury to you or your passenger, or personal injury or property damage to others.
NOTE: For safety reasons, hardtop can only be unlocked while vehicle is standing still, and within 10 seconds after turning ignition key to position 2 or beyond. See Figure . If indicator lamp in soft/hard top switch blinks while activating switch, battery voltage may be insufficient. Start engine to charge battery before shutting engine off and attempting to unlock roof again. If indicator lamp continues to blink, remove hard top, and perform an inspection of the system. Removal or attachment of hard top should be carried out by 2 persons.
NOTE: During removal and installation procedures the numbers in parentheses, within steps, correspond to numbers inside the illustration(s). The word arrow(s) in parentheses, within steps, is used to point out specific components or movement.
