Speed Sensor Insulation Resistance

  1. Turn ignition on. Set rotary switch successively to positions 4 (left front wheel), 5 (right front wheel) and 6 (rear differential). Connect a DVOM to positive and negative terminals indicated on tester. Push ground button on tester when measuring resistance. Measure insulation resistance of each sensor. Insulation resistance for all sensors should be more than 20,000 ohms. If insulation resistance is less than 20,000 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Check respective speed sensor wiring harness for shorts to ground. Check coaxial plug and cable connector for poor contact. Check for grounded speed sensor. Repair or replace components as necessary.
