Hydraulic Unit Diode

  1. Set rotary switch to position 3 with ignition on. Connect a DVOM to positive and negative terminals indicated on tester. DVOM should indicate between .4-1.5 volts. If voltage is within specification, hydraulic unit diode is okay. If voltage is not within specification, go to next step.
  2. Ensure wiring harness is not open or shorted. Ensure valve relay is functioning properly. See TEST 1 and TEST 2 under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Replace valve relay as necessary. If valve relay is okay, replace hydraulic unit because of a defective diode. Diode is not serviceable separately from hydraulic unit.
  3. After replacing hydraulic unit, if ANTI-LOCK light is not illuminated with ignition on and engine off, replace ABS ECU. Defective diode may have caused internal damage to ABS ECU.
