Exterior Light Failure Indicator Test
NOTE:
When connecting any additional lighting equipment, ensure power connection is made to fuse circuit ahead of light monitoring control unit. This will avoid malfunction or damage to control unit, which causes indicator to remain on.
- Vehicle electrical system uses a light failure monitoring unit and an instrument cluster light bar indicator light. When bulb of any exterior light fails, cluster light bar indicator is turned on by light failure monitoring unit.
- Turn ignition switch to "2" position. Exterior light indicator in light bar should glow (bulb test). Indicator should go out when engine is started. If, after engine is started, indicator is brightly lit, an exterior light failure is indicated.
- If indicator remains lit when ignition switch is returned to "0" or "1" position, a brake light or turn signal light has failed. These 2 light circuits are connected to a memory circuit in light failure monitoring unit.
- With exception of brake lights and turn signals, when any lighting circuit with a failed bulb is in use, indicator will light, showing a problem in that circuit's bulbs. Since most circuits have multiple bulbs, a visual check is necessary to determine failed bulb location.
