Slow Engaging After Operating Selector Lever From N To D Position

SLOW ENGAGING AFTER OPERATING SELECTOR LEVER FROM N TO D POSITION (NJ8A(X)-EC/NN8A(X)-EC/MM8A(X)-EC) DESCRIPTION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

Description
  • Slow engagement when depressing the accelerator pedal just after operating the selector lever from N to D position with the ATF temperature at 60°C {140°F} or more.
  • Malfunction symptom only occurs once when accelerating from a standstill.
  • Engagement after operating the selector lever from N to R position is normal.
  • Engagement when shifting gears while driving is normal.
  • DTCs are not stored.
Possible cause
  1. Automatic transmission malfunction (automatic transmission internal parts malfunction) (Refer to [AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] ).
    • Poor clutch circuit seal ring
    • Sealing malfunction of clutch piston seal
