Intention of troubleshooting procedure

P2635: 00 (PCM (PYUL)) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step Inspection Results Action
1 PURPOSE: VERIFY BATTERY FOR MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Recharge or replace the battery and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to [BATTERY RECHARGING ] ).
(Refer to [BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] ).
2 PURPOSE: VERIFY IF FUEL IN FUEL TANK IS DIRTY  Yes Clean the inside of the fuel tank, then replace the fuel gauge sender unit and fuel pump unit. (Refer to [FUEL GAUGE SENDER UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] ).
(Refer to [FUEL PUMP UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] ).
Perform the repair completion verification 1.
No Go to the next step.
3 PURPOSE: VERIFY FUEL GAUGE SENDER UNIT (SUB) FILTER CONDITION 
  • Visually verify if the fuel gauge sender unit (sub) filter is clogged.
  • Is the part normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to [FUEL GAUGE SENDER UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] ).
4 PURPOSE: VERIFY FUEL GAUGE SENDER UNIT FOR MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to [FUEL GAUGE SENDER UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] ).
5 PURPOSE: VERIFY CONDITION INSIDE FUEL TANK 
  • Remove the fuel pump unit. (Refer to [FUEL PUMP UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] ).
  • Perform the following inspections.
    • Poor connection of hose between fuel tank (main) and fuel tank (sub)
    • Breakage or bending of hose between fuel tank (main) and fuel tank (sub)
  • Are all the items normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Replace the fuel tank and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to [SEALED FUEL TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN A) ] ).
6 PURPOSE: INSPECT HOSE BETWEEN FUEL TANK (MAIN) AND FUEL TANK (SUB) FOR MALFUNCTION 
  • Perform the following procedure:
    1. Remove the fuel tank (main) quick release connector and the fuel tank (sub) quick release connector. (Refer to [QUICK RELEASE CONNECTOR (FUEL SYSTEM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] ).
    2. Verify the airflow by blowing air through the hose.
  • Is there any clogging in the hose?
Yes Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to [FUEL GAUGE SENDER UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] ).
No Go to the next step.
7 PURPOSE: VERIFY FUEL PUMP UNIT FOR MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to [FUEL PUMP UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] ).
Repair completion verification 1 PURPOSE: VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED 
  • Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
  • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  • Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.
  • Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
  • Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .)
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
No Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2 PURPOSE: VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED 
  • Perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
  • Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
 
No DTC troubleshooting completed.
