DTC P0524-00: Engine Oil Pressure Sensor System: Oil Pressure Decreased (PYUL)

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
P0524: 00 (PCM (PYUL)) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location Engine oil pressure sensor system: Oil pressure decreased
Detection condition
  • A condition in which the engine hydraulic pressure was below the standard for the specified time after the engine was started (including time when engine was restarted by i-stop control) continues for the specified period of time.
  • :When the detection conditions are met, the engine oil warning indication is displayed/engine oil warning light turns on.
Fail-safe
  • Limits the maximum engine speed.
  • Inhibits engine-stop by i-stop control.
Vehicle status when DTCs are output
  • Not applicable
Repeatability verification procedure
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Increase and keep the engine speed at 2, 500 rpm for 5 s.
Inspection/action procedure
  • Proceed with the inspection/action in the order from Step 1 below.
  • After part repair or replacement, perform the repeatability verifi cation procedure and perform a DTCinspection. (See DTC INSPECTION )
  • If the DTC inspection indicates the same DTC again, go to the next step.
  1. Verify that there is no engine oil leakage.

    Purpose/reason (possible cause)

    Engine oil leakage

    Referred to service information item

    See ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT

  2. Inspect the engine oil level.

    Purpose/reason (possible cause)

    Insufficient engine oil

    Referred to service information item

(See ENGINE OIL LEVEL INSPECTION .)

  3. Inspect the engine oil temperature sensor/engine oil pressure sensor connector and terminal.

    Purpose/reason (possible cause)

Engine oil temperature sensor/engine oil pressure sensor connectoror terminal malfunction

    Referred to service information item

    (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)

  4. Inspect the PCM connectors and terminals.

    Purpose/reason (possible cause)

    PCM connectoror terminal malfunction

    Referred to service information item

    (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)

  5. Inspect the engine oil pressure sensor.

    Purpose/reason (possible cause)

    Engine oil pressure sensor malfunction

    Referred to service information item

(See ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR INSPECTION .)

  6. Replace the oil pump.

    Purpose/reason (possible cause)

Oil pump malfunction (applicable part can not be inspected to determine integrity)

    Referred to service information item

    (See OIL PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
