DTC P0461-00: Fuel Gauge Sender Unit System: Circuit Malfunction (PYUL)

P0461: 00 (PCM (PYUL)) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location Fuel gauge sender unit system: Circuit malfunction
Detection condition
  • The change in the remaining fuel amount in the fuel tank is less than the specification when the amount of fuel consumption by fuel injection reaches the specified amount.
Fail-safe
  • Not applicable
Vehicle status when DTCs are output
  • Not applicable
Repeatability verification procedure
WARNING:
  • Observe legal speed limits when driving the vehicle and perform the procedure in a location where safety can be assured.
  • To prevent an accident, work with two people when the vehicle is being driven (one person drives vehicle, other person operates M-MDS).
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  2. Start the engine and warm it up completely.
  3. Try to reproduce the malfunction by driving the vehicle based on the values in the freeze frame data/snapshot data.
Inspection/action procedure
  • Proceed with the inspection/action in the order from Step 1 below.
  • After part repair or replacement, perform the repeatability verifi cation procedure and perform a DTCinspection. (See DTC INSPECTION )
  • If the DTC inspection indicates the same DTC again, go to the next step.
  1. Inspect the fuel gauge sender unit.

    Purpose/reason (possible cause) 

    Fuel gauge sender unit malfunction

    Referred to service information item 

    See FUEL GAUGE SENDER UNIT INSPECTION

  2. Inspect body control module (BCM).

    Purpose/reason (possible cause) 

    Body control module (BCM) malfunction

    Referred to service information item 

    (See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) INSPECTION .)

  3. Replace the PCM.

    Purpose/reason (possible cause) 

    PCM malfunction (no other possible malfunction considered)

    Referred to service information item 

    (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
