| Detection condition |
- The PCM determines a malfunction of the on-board diagnostic results received from the electric variable valve timing driver.

| Fail-safe |
- Power supply to the electric variable valve timing driver is cut off.
- Inhibits engine-stop by i-stop control.

- Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between electric variable valve timing motor/driver and PCM (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION
