Intention of troubleshooting procedure

P0A0F: 00 (PCM (PYUL)) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step Inspection Results Action
1 PURPOSE: VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS CKP SENSOR PULSE WHEEL MALFUNCTION 
  • Visually inspect the CKP sensor pulse wheel.
  • Are there any damage or scratches at the pulse wheel?
Yes Replace the pulse wheel and perform the repair completion verification 1.
No Inspect the wiring harness between the following terminals.
  • Between CKP sensor terminal A and PCM terminal 1E
  • Between CKP sensor terminal C and PCM terminal 1F
  • Between CKP sensor terminal B and PCM terminal 1AP
    • If there is any malfunction:
  • Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
    • If there is no malfunction:
  • Replace the CKP sensor and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to [CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] in service information).
2 PURPOSE: VERIFY DRIVE-BY-WIRE CONTROL OPERATION CONDITION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
3 PURPOSE: VERIFY GENERATOR DRIVE BELT FOR MALFUNCTION 
  • Inspect the applicable part. (Refer to [DRIVE BELT INSPECTION ] in service information).
  • Is the part normal?
Yes Perform the repair completion verification 1.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to [DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] in service information).
4 PURPOSE: VERIFY CONNECTION CONDITION OF INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM PIPING 
  • Verify the connection condition of the intake-air system piping (such as vacuum hose, evaporative hose, ventilation hose).

    (Refer to [ VACUUM HOSE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in service information).

    (Refer to [EMISSION SYSTEM LOCATION INDEX ] in service information).

    (Refer to [INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM LOCATION INDEX ] in service information).

  • Is the connection condition of each intake-air system piping normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Correctly connect the intake-air system piping in which a malfunction is occurring and perform the repair completion verification 1.
5 PURPOSE: VERIFY AIR SUCTION ON INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM PIPING FOR MALFUNCTION 
  • Inspect the intake-air system for air suction.
  • Is there any leakage?
Yes Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
No Go to the next step.
6 PURPOSE: VERIFY PURGE SOLENOID VALVE OPERATION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to [PURGE SOLENOID VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] in service information).
7 PURPOSE: VERIFY ELECTRIC VARIABLE VALVE TIMING DRIVER FOR MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to [ELECTRIC VARIABLE VALVE TIMING MOTOR/DRIVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] in service information).
8 PURPOSE: VERIFY ELECTRIC VARIABLE VALVE TIMING MOTOR FOR MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to [ELECTRIC VARIABLE VALVE TIMING MOTOR/DRIVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] in service information).
9 PURPOSE: VERIFY ELECTRIC VARIABLE VALVE TIMING ACTUATOR FOR MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to [ELECTRIC VARIABLE VALVE TIMING ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] in service information).
10 PURPOSE: INSPECT HYDRAULIC VARIABLE VALVE TIMING SYSTEM FOR OPERATION MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
Repair completion verification 1 PURPOSE: VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED 
  • Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
  • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  • Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.
  • Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
  • Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .)
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
  • If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM, then go to the next step. (Refer to [PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] in service information).
No Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2 PURPOSE: VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED 
  • Perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
  • Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No DTC troubleshooting completed.
