Function Inspection Using M-MDS

P0A0F: 00 (PCM (PYUL)) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step Inspection Results Action
1 PURPOSE: RECORD VEHICLE STATUS WHEN DTC WAS DETECTED TO UTILIZE WITH REPEATABILITY VERIFICATION 
  • Record the freeze frame data/snapshot data.
    NOTE:
    • Recording can be facilitated using the screen capture function of the PC.
 - Go to the next step.
2 PURPOSE: INSPECT FOR OTHER RELATED DTCs 
  • Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
  • Are any of the following DTCs displayed?
    • P1260: 00
 Yes Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See P1260-00: (PYUL) ).
Go to the next step.
No Go to the next step.
3 PURPOSE: VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSED BY INABILITY TO START ENGINE 
  • Start the engine.
  • Does the engine start normally?
 Yes Go to the next step.
No Perform the applicable symptom troubleshooting. (See WILL NOT CRANK [PYUL] .)
(See HARD TO START/LONG CRANK/ERRATIC START/ERRATIC CRANK [PYUL] .)
(See CRANKS NORMALLY BUT WILL NOT START [PYUL] .)
4 PURPOSE: DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION IS CAUSED BY ROUGH IDLING OR PISTON-STOP POSITION MALFUNCTION 
  • Start the engine and warm it up completely.
  • Is the idle speed stabilized?
 Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Troubleshooting Diagnostic Procedure to perform the procedure from Step 4.
5 PURPOSE: VERIFY GENERATOR CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATION 
  • Start the engine and warm it up completely.
  • Display the PCM PID [ALT_VOLT_OUT_ACT] using the M-MDS. (See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION .)
  • Apply the electrical load (such as blower fan, rear window defroster, or headlight).
  • Does the PID [ALT_VOLT_OUT_ACT] value increase when the rear window defogger, headlights, and blower motor are operated simultaneously?
 Yes Go to the next step.
No Inspect the following:
  • Wiring harness between generator terminal 2B and PCM terminal 1BP
  • Wiring harness between generator terminal 2A and PCM terminal 1AG
  • Generator (Refer to [ GENERATOR INSPECTION] in service information).
    • If there is any malfunction:
  • Repair or replace the malfunctioning part. (Refer to [ GENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in service information).
  • Go to Troubleshooting Diagnostic Procedure to perform the repair completion verification 1.
6 PURPOSE: DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION CAUSED BY CKP SENSOR SIGNAL ERROR 
  • Verify the CKP sensor signal wave pattern using an oscilloscope. (Refer to [PCM INSPECTION ] in service information).
  • Is the signal wave pattern normal?
 Yes Go to Troubleshooting Diagnostic Procedure to perform the procedure from Step 2.
No Go to Troubleshooting Diagnostic Procedure to perform the procedure from Step 1.
