DTC P0571-00: Brake Switch System: Circuit Malfunction

P0571: 00 (PCM (PYUL)) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location Brake switch system: Circuit malfunction
Detection condition
  • The brake switch does not switch even though the vehicle is stopped 8 times repeatedly from a vehicle speed of 30 km/h {19 mph} or more.
Fail-safe
  • Inhibits engine-stop by i-stop control.
Possible cause
CAUTION:
  • Inspect the brake switch with it installed to the brake pedal, otherwise the brake switch may not operate normally. If the brake switch is removed from the brake pedal, replace the brake switch with a new one.
  1. Sub relay malfunction (Refer to [RELAY LOCATION ] in service information). (Refer to [RELAY INSPECTION ] in service information).
  2. Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between sub relay and brake switch (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  3. Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between brake switch and body ground (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  4. Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between brake switch and PCM (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  5. Brake switch malfunction (Refer to [BRAKE SWITCH INSPECTION ] in service information).
  6. PCM malfunction (Refer to [PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] in service information).
Repeatability verification procedure
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  2. Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.
    WARNING:
    • Observe legal speed limits when driving the vehicle and perform the procedure in a location where safety can be assured.
    • To prevent an accident, work with two people when the vehicle is being driven (one person drives vehicle, other person operates M-MDS).
    • Drive the vehicle.
    • Stop the vehicle 8 times repeatedly from a vehicle speed of 30 km/h {19 mph} or more.
