Camshaft Installation Note

- Apply SAE90 gear oil or equivalent, or engine oil to the positions shown in the figure below.SYMBOL AND CONTENT DESCRIPTION
Symbol Content Gear oil (SAE 90 or equivalent) or engine oil - Apply gear oil (SAE 90 or equivalent) or engine oil to the thrust surface (both surfaces front and back) of the front journal on each camshaft.
- Align the cam position of cylinder No. 1 near the top dead center (TDC) and place the intake camshaft on the cylinder head as shown in the figure below.COMPONENT OPERATIONS
Component no Refer to 1 Intake camshaft 2 Cylinder head - Remove the rope suspending the timing chain from the exhaust side.
- While aligning the paint marks on the hydraulic variable valve timing actuator with the timing chain marked during removal, place the exhaust camshaft component on the cylinder head.COMPONENT OPERATIONS
Component no Refer to 1 Exhaust camshaft component 2 Paint mark - Apply SAE 90 gear oil or equivalent, or engine oil to the central area of each journal on the camshaft.
- Apply SAE 90 gear oil or equivalent, or engine oil to the thrust surface of the front camshaft cap.
- Apply sealant (Loctite 962T) to the rear camshaft cap installation area on the exhaust side of the cylinder head or the rear camshaft cap on the exhaust.SYMBOL AND CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Sealant bead width: 1-3 mm {0.04-0.11 in};1 Cylinder head 2 Exhaust side rear camshaft cap 3 Groove - Install the camshaft caps in the order of the marked numbers, and temporarily tighten the camshaft cap installation bolts evenly in two or three times.COMPONENT OPERATIONS
