HLA Installation Note

- Bleed the air from the HLA using the following procedure.
- Place the HLA into a container filled with engine oil.
- Move the plunger up and down to bleed the air while the check ball is lightly pressed with a thin round bar (diameter approx. 1.0 mm {0.039 in}).COMPONENT OPERATIONS
Component no Refer to 1 PRESS 2 Up and down 3 Container filled with engine oil 4 Thin round bar 5 Plunger 6 Check ball - Verify that the sense of sponginess is no longer present by pressing the end of the plunger in the oil.
- If the sense of sponginess persists, replace the HLA.
- Visually inspect the HLA rocker arm contact surface for wear and damage.COMPONENT OPERATIONS
Component no Refer to 1 Rocker arm contact surface - If there is a malfunction, replace the HLA.
- Assemble the HLA to the same position as that before removal.
- Apply engine oil to the ends of the HLAs and valve stems.
