P2504: 00 (PCM (H3T)) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location Drive/motor system: High input
Detection condition Determination condition
  • When any of the following conditions is met.

    Condition A 

    • The state in which the battery voltage is equal to or higher than the specified value V is continued for a predetermined time.

    Condition B 

    • The state where the input voltage is higher than the specified value continues for the specified time.

    Condition C 

    • The state in which the voltage at the output terminal of the drive motor is equal to or higher than the specified value continues for a predetermined time.

    Condition D 

    • The DC-DC converter continues to exceed the specified value for a predetermined time.
Preconditions
  • Shutdown relay of Mazda M Hybrid Boost battery is ON.
Determination period
  • 5s
Drive cycle
  • 1
Self-test type
  • CMDTC self-test
Sensor/unit used
  • PCM
  • DC-DC converter
  • Mazda M Hybrid Boost battery
  • Drive motor control module
Fail-safe
  • Power supply by the DC-DC converter step-down circuit is stopped.
  • Power generation by the drive motor is stopped.
  • Turn off the shut-off relay of the Mazda M Hybrid Boost battery and supply power from the battery to the vehicle electrical equipment (12 V power source).
  • Performs vehicle speed restriction according to low battery voltage, and activates Auto P function at a vehicle speed of 5 km/h {3 mph} or less
Vehicle status when DTCs are output
  • If the vehicle continues to be driven while the DTC is detected the battery will be depleted.
    • A malfunction occurs with an electrical device and the vehicle stops.
  • The following vehicle conditions differ depending on the malfunction conditions.
    • A vehicle shock may occur due to generator load.
    • Idling feel due to generator-stop may occur.
Possible cause
  • Poor connection of the following parts:
    • DC-DC converter
    • Mazda M Hybrid Boost battery
    • Drive motor
  • Connector or terminal malfunction of the following parts:
    • DC-DC converter
    • Mazda M Hybrid Boost battery
    • Drive motor
  • Short circuit between DC-DC converter, Mazda M Hybrid Boost battery, or drive motor charge/discharge circuit
  • PCM malfunction
