DTC P2183-00: ECT Sensor No. 2 System: Function Malfunction
P2183: 00 (PCM (H3T)) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE
| System malfunction location |
ECT sensor No. 2 system: Function malfunction |
| Detection condition |
- When the following conditions are satisfied, the temperature difference between the ECT sensor No. 2 and average of the ambient temperature sensor, IAT sennsor No. 1, and transmission fluid temperature sensor excluding the maximum value is outside the specified range for a predetermined period of time.
- Before starting the engine, leave the vehicle with the engine turned off for 6 h or more.
- Battery voltage: 8.0 V or more
- Ignition is switched ON is operating (engine off or on)
- Ambient temperature: -10°C {14°F} or more
- The following DTCs are not detected
- ECT sensor No. 2 system: P2184: 00, P2185: 00
- Malfunction in instrument cluster: P2610: 00

| Fail-safe |
|
| Possible cause |
NOTE:
- In a vehicle equipped with an external engine heater, a DTC may be detected when the temperature around the sensor rises due to activation of the engine heater.
- ECT sensor No. 4 connector or terminal malfunction (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION
.)
- ECT sensor No. 3 connector or terminal malfunction (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION
.) 3. Water-cooled intercooler coolant temperature sensor (ECT sensor No. 2) connector or terminal malfunction (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION
.)
- ECT sensor No. 4 malfunction (Refer to [ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR INSPECTION
] in service information).
- ECT sensor No. 3 malfunction (Refer to [ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR INSPECTION
] in service information).
- Water-cooled intercooler coolant temperature sensor (ECT sensor No. 2) malfunction (Refer to [ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR INSPECTION
] in service information).
- PCM malfunction (Refer to [PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
] in service information).

| Repeatability verification procedure |
- Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC
.)
- Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.
- Start the engine and stop the engine after 5 s or more have elapsed.
- Leave the vehicle for 6 h* or more. *For vehicles equipped with an external engine heater, do not operate the engine heater.
- Leave the ignition ON (engine off) or idle for 1 min.
