DTC P0236-00: Boost Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Problem (H3T)

P0236: 00 (PCM (H3T)) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location Boost pressure sensor circuit range/performance problem
Detection condition

Determination condition 

  • Any one of the following conditions is met:
    • The condition has continued in which difference in barometric pressure measured and turbocharger/supercharger boost pressure is standard or more, difference in manifold absolute pressure and turbocharger/supercharger boost pressure is standard or more and difference in turbocharger/supercharger boost pressure and exhaust pressure is standard or less.
    • The condition has continued in which difference in barometric pressure measured and turbocharger/supercharger boost pressure is standard or less, difference in manifold absolute pressure and turbocharger/supercharger boost pressure is standard or less and difference in turbocharger/supercharger boost pressure and exhaust pressure is standard or more.

Precondition 
  • Ignition switched off: 12.0-15.0 min have elapsed
  • The following DTCs are not detected:
    • BARO sensor: P2228: 00 and P2229: 00
    • MAP sensor: P0107: 00 and P0108: 00
    • Boost pressure sensor: P0237: 00 and P0238: 00
    • GPF pressure sensor: P0472: 00 and P0473: 00
Fail-safe
  • Not applicable
Vehicle status when DTCs are output
  • Not applicable
Repeatability verification procedure
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  2. Start the engine. (Engine cold)
  3. Drive the vehicle on fl at roads under the following conditions 10 times.
    • Start the engine. (Engine cold)
    • Drive the vehicle on a flat road surface 10 times under the following conditions.
Inspection/action procedure
  • Proceed with the inspection/action in the order from Step 1 below.
  • After part repair or replacement, perform the repeatability verification procedure and perform a DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION )
  • If the DTC inspection indicates the same DTC again, go to the next step.
  1. Inspect the boost pressure sensor connectors and terminals.

    Purpose/reason (possible cause) 

    Boost pressure sensor connector or terminal malfunction

    Referred to workshop manual item 

    See CONNECTOR INSPECTION

  2. Inspect the boost pressure sensor.

    Purpose/reason (possible cause) 

    Boost pressure sensor malfunction

    Referred to workshop manual item

  3. Inspect the PCM connectors and terminals.

    Purpose/reason (possible cause) 

    PCM connector or terminal malfunction

    Referred to workshop manual item 

    (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION )

  4. Replace the PCM.

    Purpose/reason (possible cause) 

    PCM malfunction (no other possible malfunction considered)

    Referred to workshop manual item
