DTC P0198-00: Engine Oil Temperature Sensor System: High Input (H3T)
P0198: 00 (PCM (H3T)) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE
| System malfunction location |
Engine oil temperature sensor system: High input |
| Detection condition |
Determination condition
- The specified time has elapsed with the voltage of the engine oil temperature sensor exceeding the standard.
Precondition
- Battery voltage: 8-20 V
- Engine coolant temperature: 25 °C {77 °F} or more
- Elapsed time after engine start: 174 s
- The following DTC is not detected
- ECT sensor No. 1: P0117:00 and P0118:00

| Vehicle status when DTCs are output |
|
| Repeatability verification procedure |
- Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC
.)
- Perform the KOEO or KOER self test. (See DTC INSPECTION
.)
|
| Inspection/action procedure |
- Proceed with the inspection/action in the order from Step 1 below.
- After part repair or replacement, perform the repeatability verification procedure and perform a DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION
)
- If the DTC inspection indicates the same DTC again, go to the next step.
- Inspect the wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between the engine oil temperature sensor/engine oil pressure sensor and the PCM.
Purpose/reason (possible cause)
Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between engine oil temperature sensor/engine oil pressure sensor and PCM
Referred to workshop manual item
(See CIRCUIT INSPECTION
.) (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION
.)
- Inspect the engine oil temperature sensor.
Purpose/reason (possible cause)
Engine oil temperature sensor malfunction
Referred to workshop manual item
(See ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSPECTION
.)
- Replace the PCM.
Purpose/reason (possible cause)
PCM malfunction (no other possible malfunction considered)
Referred to workshop manual item
(See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
)
