Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Valve Inspection [H3T]

  1. Remove the windshield wiper motor and link. (See WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  2. Remove the cowl grille braket. (See ENGINE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [H3T] .)
  3. Remove the side cowl grille. (See COWL GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Remove the strut tower bar. (See DRIVER-SIDE STRUT TOWER BAR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) (See PASSENGER-SIDE STRUT TOWER BAR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  5. Remove the engine compartment insulator (Upper). (See ENGINE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [H3T] .)
  6. Disconnect the ventilation hose. (See CYLINDER HEAD COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [H3T] .)
  7. Start the engine and verify that vacuum is applied to the end of the hole while the engine is idling.
    • If vacuum is not applied to the ventilation hose, perform the procedure from Step 8.
  8. Disconnect the PCV hose.

  9. Verify that there is no airflow when pressure (5 kPa {0.05 kgf/cm2 , 0.7 psi} or more) is applied to port B.

  10. Verify that there is airflow when vacuum is applied to port B.
