Electric Parking Brake Automatic Release Function During Acceleration Malfunctions: Outline

ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE AUTOMATIC RELEASE FUNCTION DURING ACCELERATION MALFUNCTIONS (ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE) DESCRIPTION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

Description
  • The electric parking brake automatic release function at start malfunctions no matter any of the following conditions.
  • Door open/closed condition: The front door (driver's side) is open.
  • Seat belt fastened: The driver's side seat belt is unfastened.
  • Selector lever position: The selector lever is in the P or N position. (AT/ATX)
  • Shift lever position: The shift lever is in the neutral position. (MT/MTX)
  • Accelerator pedal depression condition: The accelerator pedal is not depressed.
Possible cause
  • Electronically controlled brake unit/DSC HU/CM malfunction
  • Front door latch switch (driver's side) malfunction
  • Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between front door latch switch (driver's side) and body ground
  • Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between door-electrical supply unit (driver's side) and front door latch switch (driver's side)
  • Door-electrical supply unit (driver's side) malfunction
  • Driver's side buckle switch malfunction
  • Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between driver's side buckle switch and body ground
  • Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between dash-electrical supply unit and driver's side buckle switch
  • Dash-electrical supply unit malfunction
