DTC P189D-00: AWD Solenoid

P189D-00: (PCM - VIN Y) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location AWD solenoid
Detection condition
  • The PCM detects a short to power supply in the AWD solenoid control circuit.
Fail-safe
  • Inhibits the i-ACTIV AWD system control.
Possible cause
  1. AWD solenoid malfunction (Refer to applicable AWD SOLENOID INSPECTION in the service information.)
  2. Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between AWD solenoid and electrical supply unit (ESU) (see CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  3. Electrical supply unit (ESU) malfunction (Refer to applicable ELECTRICAL SUPPLY UNIT (ESU) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in the service information.)
  4. PCM malfunction (Refer to applicable PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in the service information.)
Repeatability verification procedure
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (see CLEARING DTC .)
  2. Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
  3. Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
