DTC P012F-00: Engine Coolant Temperature/Engine Oil Temperature: Correlation Error

P012F-00: (PCM - VIN Y) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location Engine coolant temperature/Engine oil temperature: Correlation error
Detection condition
  • Any one of the following conditions is met, the PCM detects a circuit/range performance problem:
    • The temperature detected by the engine oil temperature sensor after engine start is standard or more higher than the temperature detected by ECT sensor No. 1 after engine start.
    • The temperature detected by the engine oil temperature sensor after engine start is standard or less lower than the temperature detected by ECT sensor No. 1 after engine start.

Precondition 
  • The following conditions are met:
    • Period vehicle being left: 6 h or more
    • Battery voltage: 8 V or more
    • The following DTCs are not detected:
  • Engine oil temperature sensor: P0197-00: and P0198-00:
  • ECT sensor No. 1: P0117-00: and P0118-00:
Fail-safe
  • Not applicable
Possible cause
  1. ECT sensor No. 1 connector or terminals malfunction (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  2. Engine oil temperature sensor connector or terminals malfunction (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  3. PCM connector or terminals malfunction (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  4. ECT sensor No. 1 malfunction (Refer to ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR INSPECTION (VIN Y) in service information.)
  5. Engine oil temperature sensor malfunction (Refer to ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSPECTION (VIN Y) in service information.)
  6. PCM malfunction (Refer to applicable PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in the service information.
Repeatability verification procedure
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (see CLEARING DTC .)
  2. Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.
    • Switch the ignition off.
    • Start the engine and warm it up completely.
  3. Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
