Function Explanation (DTC Detection Outline)
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- The PCM calculates the estimated engine coolant temperature based on the vehicle speed, engine coolant heat radiation amount and the operation conditions of the climate control unit. If the malfunction determination condition repeats 3 times, the engine coolant heat radiation amount is frequently high, and the estimated engine coolant temperature does not exceed specified value, the PCM determines that the thermostat has a malfunction and stores a DTC.
PCM COMPONENT OPERATIONS
| Component No. | Refer to |
|---|---|
| 1 | Engine coolant heat radiation amount [W/K] |
| 2 | Specified Value |
| 3 | Engine start |
| 4 | Low |
| 5 | Engine coolant heat radiation amount is frequently high and estimated engine coolant temperature does not exceed specified value, pcm determines that thermostat has open malfunction. |
| 6 | Engine coolant heat radiation amount varies depending on operation conditions of climate control unit. |
| 7 | Vehicle speed [km/h {MPH}] |
| 8 | High |
