DTC P0117-00: ECT Sensor No. 1 System: Low Input

P0117-00: (PCM - VIN Y) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location ECT sensor No. 1 system: Low input
Detection condition
  • The specified period of time has elapsed while the engine coolant temperature sensor No. 1 voltage is less than the standard.
Fail-safe
  • Fixes the water temperature for the engine control at 40°C {104°F}, and for the idle air control at 80°C {176°F}.
  • Operates the cooling fan (high speed rotation).
  • Inhibits the fuel cut control during shift change.
Possible cause
  1. Engine overheating (cooling system malfunction) (See COOLING SYSTEM CONCERNS-OVERHEATING [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T] .)
  2. Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between ECT sensor No. 1 and PCM (see CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  3. ECT sensor No. 1 malfunction (Refer to ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR INSPECTION (VIN Y) in service information.)
  4. PCM malfunction (Refer to applicable PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in the service information.
Repeatability verification procedure
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (see CLEARING DTC .)
  2. Perform the KOEO or KOER self test. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
