DTC P0524-00: Engine Oil Pressure Sensor System: Oil Pressure Decreased

P0524-00: (PCM - VIN Y) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location Engine oil pressure sensor system: Oil pressure decreased
Detection condition
  • The specified period of time has elapsed while the engine hydraulic pressure decreases below the reference value after the specified time since the engine was started.*

*: With the conditions met, the engine oil warning indication is displayed/engine oil warning light turns on.
Fail-safe
  • Restricts the upper limit of the engine speed.
Possible cause
  1. Engine oil leakage (Refer to ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT (VIN Y) in the service information.)
  2. Insufficient engine oil (Refer to ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT (VIN Y) in the service information.)
  3. Engine oil temperature sensor/engine oil pressure sensor connector or terminal malfunction

    (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)

  4. PCM connector or terminal malfunction (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  5. Engine oil pressure sensor malfunction (Refer to applicable ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR INSPECTION (VIN Y)INSPECTION in the service information.)
  6. Oil pump malfunction (Refer to applicable OIL PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in the service information.)
  7. PCM malfunction (Refer to applicable PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in the service information.)
Repeatability verification procedure
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (see CLEARING DTC .)
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Increase and keep the engine speed at 2, 500 rpm for 5 s.
  4. Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
