DTC P0480-00: Fan Control Module Control Circuit Problem

P0480-00: (PCM - VIN Y) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location Fan control module control circuit problem
Detection condition
  • The PCM monitors the input voltage from the fan control module. If the voltage at the PCM terminal 2I remains low or high for specified time more, the PCM determines that the fan control circuit has a malfunction.
Fail-safe
  • Not applicable
Possible cause
  1. Cooling fan relay malfunction (Refer to RELAY INSPECTION in the service information.)
  2. Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between sub relay and cooling fan relay (see CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  3. Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between battery and cooling fan relay (see CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  4. Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between cooling fan relay and fan control module (see CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  5. Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between fan control module and PCM (see CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  6. Malfunction in wiring harness (including connector/terminal) between cooling fan relay and PCM

    (see CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)

  7. Fan control module malfunction (Refer to COOLING FAN MOTOR INSPECTION (VIN Y) in the service information.)
  8. PCM malfunction (Refer to applicable PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in the service information.)
Repeatability verification procedure
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (see CLEARING DTC .)
  2. Perform the KOEO or KOER self test. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
