DTC P2540-00: Low Fuel Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Problem

P2540:00 (PCM - VIN Y) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location Low fuel pressure sensor circuit range/performance problem
Detection condition
  • Variation in fuel pressure is standard or less with the following conditions met.

Precondition 
  • Battery voltage: 8 V or more
  • Ignition switched ON (engine on)
  • Engine speed: 500-2, 500 rpm
  • Engine load: 0.5 %
  • The following DTCs are not detected:
    • Low fuel pressure sensor: P2541:00 and P2542:00
Fail-safe
  • Not applicable
Possible cause
  1. Low fuel pressure sensor/fuel temperature sensor connector or terminals malfunction

    (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)

  2. Low fuel pressure sensor malfunction (Refer to LOW FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR INSPECTION (VIN Y) in the service information.)
  3. PCM connector or terminals malfunction (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  4. PCM malfunction (Refer to applicable PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in the service information.)
Repeatability verification procedure
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (see CLEARING DTC .)
  2. Start the engine. (Engine cold)
  3. Drive the vehicle on a flat road surface 10 times under the following conditions.
    • Drive the vehicle in second gear at 25 km/h {16 mph} while maintaining the speed for 25 s.
    • Stop the vehicle and idle the engine.
  4. Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
