DTC P0016-00: CKP-CMP (Intake Side) Correlation Problem

P0016:00 (PCM - VIN Y) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location CKP-CMP (intake side) correlation problem
Detection condition
  • The PCM monitors the input pulses from the CKP sensor and intake CMP sensor. If the input pulse pick-up timing do not match each other, the PCM determines that the camshaft position does not coincide with the crankshaft position.
Fail-safe
  • Not applicable
Possible cause
  1. Improper valve timing (Refer to TIMING CHAIN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in the service information.)
    • Improper installation of timing chain to intake cam sprocket teeth
    • Timing chain damage
    • Intake cam sprocket damage
  2. CKP sensor connector or terminals malfunction (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  3. CKP sensor malfunction (Refer to CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR INSPECTION (VIN Y) in the service information.)
  4. Intake CMP connector or terminals malfunction (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  5. Intake CMP sensor malfunction (Refer to CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR INSPECTION (VIN Y) in the service information.)
  6. PCM connector or terminals malfunction (see CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  7. PCM malfunction (Refer to applicable PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in the service information.)
Repeatability verification procedure
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (see CLEARING DTC .)
  2. Perform the KOEO or KOER self test. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
