- Access the PCM PIDs [VLV_TIMING_ACT_IN] and [VLV_TIMING_DSD_IN] using the M-MDS data monitor function.WARNING:
- When the M-MDS is used to observe monitor system status while driving, be sure to have another technician with you, or record the data in the M-MDS using the PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD capturing function and inspect later.
- While performing this step, always operate the vehicle in a safe and lawful manner.
- Drive the vehicle (accelerate/decelerate and drive at constant speed), and verify that the PCM PID [VLV_TIMING_ACT_IN] value changes in conjunction with the PCM PID [VLV_TIMING_DSD_IN] value.
- If the change cannot be verified, replace the electric variable valve timing motor/driver. (See ELECTRIC VARIABLE VALVE TIMING MOTOR/DRIVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) .)
