Fuel siphoning procedure in fuel tank

  1. Remove the fuel pump unit. (See FUEL PUMP UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) .)
  2. Siphon the fuel in the fuel tank (main).
  3. Perform the following procedure if the fuel gauge value before siphoning the fuel is 8/16 or more. If the fuel gauge value is less than 8/16, go to the next step.
    1. Insert the hose into the fuel tank (main).
    2. Direct the inserted hose into the fuel tank (sub).
    3. Siphon the fuel in the fuel tank (sub).

      Fuel siphoning amount (reference) 

      • approx. 5.0 L {5.3 US qt, 4.4 Imp qt} or more
  4. Remove the fuel gauge sender unit. (See FUEL GAUGE SENDER UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  5. Siphon the fuel in the fuel tank (sub).
