DTC P0101-00: MAF Sensor System: Function Malfunction

P0101-00: (PCM - SKYACTIV-G 2.5T) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location MAF sensor system: Function malfunction
Detection condition
  • The difference between the intake air amount measured by the MAF sensor and the estimated intake air amount estimated by the MAP sensor is outside of the specified value.
Fail-safe
  • Not applicable
Possible cause
  1. MAP sensor/IAT sensor No. 2 connector or terminal malfunction (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  2. MAF/IAT sensor No. 1 connector or terminal malfunction (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  3. MAP sensor/IAT sensor No. 2 incorrect installation (Refer to MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR/INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR NO. 2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
  4. MAF sensor/IAT sensor No. 1 incorrect installation (Refer to MASS AIR FLOW (MAF) SENSOR/INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR NO. 1 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
  5. PCM connector or terminal malfunction (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)
  6. MAP sensor malfunction (Refer to MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR INSPECTION in service information.)
  7. MAF sensor malfunction (Refer to MASS AIR FLOW (MAF) SENSOR INSPECTION in service information.)
  8. Air leakage from intake-air system
  9. Purge solenoid valve malfunction (Refer to PURGE SOLENOID VALVE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T] in service information.)
  10. PCV valve malfunction (Refer to POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) VALVE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T] in service information.)
  11. A non-genuine air cleaner or air cleaner cover installed
  12. PCM malfunction (Refer to PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
Repeatability verification procedure
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Access the following PCM PIDs using the M-MDS. (See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION .)
    • ECT
    • TP1
    • TP2
    • ENG_RPM
  4. Warm up the engine until the engine coolant temperature is 70°C {158°F} or more.
  5. Perform the following:
    1. Depress the accelerator pedal to increase the engine speed to approx. 5, 000 rpm.
    2. Release the accelerator pedal to decrease the engine speed to idle speed.
    3. Repeat Step  1 and  2 operations above three times in succession.
