NOISE WHILE OPERATING A/C SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step Inspection Results Action
1 INSPECT A/C COMPRESSOR FOR SLIPPAGE NOISE
  • Is there a squeaking or whirling sound (A/C compressor slippage noise)?
Yes Go to Step 4.
No Go to the next step.
2 INSPECT A/C COMPRESSOR FOR INTERFERENCE NOISE
  • Is there a rattling or vibrating sound (interference noise)?
Yes Go to Step 7.
No Go to the next step.
3 INSPECT A/C COMPRESSOR VANE FOR NOISE
  • Is there a jingling, popping, beeping, or buzzing sound (A/C compressor vane noise)?
Yes Replace the magnetic clutch and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to MAGNETIC CLUTCH DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] , or MAGNETIC CLUTCH INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T] in service information.)
No The system is normal, verify the malfunction symptom again.
4 INSPECT DRIVE BELT  Yes Go to the next step.
No Adjusting the drive belt tension, then go to the next step.
(Refer to DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [VIN M] , or DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [VIN Y] in service information.)
5 INSPECT DRIVE BELT
  • Is there drive belt deterioration, foreign matter penetration in the belt, or oil on the belt?
Yes Remove obstruction, remove oil, or replace drive belt, then perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [VIN M] , or DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [VIN Y] in service information.)
No Go to the next step.
6 INSPECT MAGNETIC CLUTCH  Yes Replace the A/C compressor (excluding pressure plate, A/C compressor pulley, stator) and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] , or A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T] in service information.)
No Replace the magnetic clutch and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to MAGNETIC CLUTCH DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] , or MAGNETIC CLUTCH INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T] in service information.)
7 VERIFY LOCATION OF ABNORMAL NOISE OCCURRENCE
  • Is noise emitted from A/C compressor?
Yes Visually inspect the A/C compressor.
(Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] , or A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T] in service information.)
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] , or A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T] in service information.)
(Refer to MAGNETIC CLUTCH DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] , or MAGNETIC CLUTCH INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T] in service information.)
No If abnormal noise occurs from the hose or system piping, perform repairs in the area causing interference with the hose or system piping due to clip removal or screw looseness.
Perform the repair completion verification 1.
Repair completion verification 1 VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS CORRECTED
  • Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
  • Has A/C compressor noise stopped?
Yes Troubleshooting completed. (Explain repair contents to customer.)
No Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
(See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .)
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
