Diagnostic Procedure

ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHT TURNS ON (ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step	Inspection	Results	Action
1	VERIFY SYSTEM DTCs Switch the ignition off/main power OFF. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on)/main power ON (READY off or on) and wait for 10 s or more. Perform a quick check using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION .) Are any DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [DSC] .)
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE UNIT/DSC HU/CM OR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER Switch the ignition ON (engine off)/main power ON (READY off). Does the electric parking brake warning light turn on/off?	Yes	Replace the electronically controlled brake unit/DSC HU/CM and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to [ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in service information.) (Refer to DSC HU/CM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
2		No	Replace the instrument cluster and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
Repair completion verification 1	VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS CORRECTED Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure. Has the malfunction symptom been eliminated?	Yes	Complete the symptom troubleshooting. Explain repair contents to customer.
Repair completion verification 1		No	Refer to the CAN (controller area network) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .) If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
