Backup restore

CAUTION:
  • If an improper USB memory is used, CMU information cannot be copied normally. Use a USB memory which meets the following conditions.
    • Capacity is 4GB or more, 32GB or less
    • Format type is [FAT32]
    • All data in USB memory has been erased
  • When performing the operation with audio turned on, it could cause a malfunction when processing backup restore data. Turn off the audio before performing the operation.
  • If the USB memory is removed during operation, it could damage parts. Do not remove the USB memory during operation.

Backup 

  1. Install the battery charger to the vehicle.
  2. Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
  3. Switch the ignition ON (engine off)/main power ON (READY off).
  4. Turn off the audio.
  5. Activate the M-MDS and perform the following procedure.
    1. Press [Start] to start the vehicle identification.
    2. Press the [Toolbox] tab.
    3. Verify that the screen switched to [Toolbox].
  6. Connect the USB memory to the USB terminal of the USB port/SD card slot hub.
  7. Launch the diagnostic assist function. (See ACTIVATION PROCEDURE .)
  8. Select [Service Information] on the diagnostic assist function initial screen.
  9. Select [Backup Restore] on the [Service Information] screen.
  10. Verify that the screen switched to [Backup Restore].
  11. Return to the M-MDS operation and perform the following procedure.
    1. Press the [Work Support] icon.
    2. Press [Mazda Connect].
    3. Press [Run] for [Collecting CMU log data].
    4. Verify that the vehicle is under the following conditions, put a check in the checkbox, and then press [Next].
      • Switch the ignition ON (engine off)/main power ON (READY off)
      • Vehicle is stopped
    5. Verify that the screen display for [Collecting CMU log data] switched to [Complete].
      NOTE:
      • Do not press [Next] at this time. If [Next] is pressed, return to Step  1.
  12. Return to the diagnostic assist function operation and select [Backup] on the [Backup Restore] screen.
    NOTE:
    • Because the restore operation cannot be performed if the password is not known, record the entered password.
  13. Enter a password (8 to 16 digits in numerals only) on the [Backup] screen and select [OK].
  14. Verify that the screen switched to [Backup Completed] and select [OK].
    NOTE:
    • The following information can be copied to the CMU after replacement.
      • Radio settings (Programmed preset information)
      • External device connection settings (Apple CarPlay™/Android Auto™ programmed information)
      • Navigation settings (Location and home information registered to favorites)
      • Center display settings (Contrast setting information, clock display setting information)
      • System settings (Nickname information, touch pad function on/off setting)
      • Audio settings (Equalizer setting information, listening position setting)
  15. Return to the M-MDS operation and press [Next].
  16. Switch the ignition OFF/main power OFF.
  17. Remove the USB memory.
  18. Remove the battery charger from the vehicle.

Restore 

  1. Install the battery charger to the vehicle.
  2. Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
  3. Switch the ignition ON (engine off)/main power ON (READY off).
  4. Turn off the audio.
  5. Activate the M-MDS and perform the following procedure.
    1. Press [Start] to start the vehicle identification.
    2. Press the [Toolbox] tab.
    3. Verify that the screen switched to [Toolbox].
  6. Connect the USB memory to the USB terminal of the USB port/SD card slot hub.
  7. Launch the diagnostic assist function. (See ACTIVATION PROCEDURE .)
  8. Select [Service Information] on the diagnostic assist function initial screen.
  9. Select [Backup Restore] on the [Service Information] screen.
  10. Verify that the screen switched to [Backup Restore].
  11. Return to the M-MDS operation and perform the following procedure.
    1. Press the [Work Support] icon.
    2. Press [Mazda Connect].
    3. Press [Run] for [Collecting CMU log data].
    4. Verify that the vehicle is under the following conditions, put a check in the checkbox, and then press [Next].
      • Switch the ignition ON (engine off)/main power ON (READY off)
      • Vehicle is stopped
    5. Verify that the screen display for [Collecting CMU log data] switched to [Complete].
      NOTE:
      • Do not press [Next] at this time. If [Next] is pressed, return to Step  1.
  12. Return to the operation of the diagnostic assist function and select [Restore] on the [Backup Restore] screen.
  13. Enter the password on the [Restore] screen and select [OK].
    NOTE:
    • Use the password entered during the backup procedure.
  14. Verify that the screen switched to [Restore Completed] and select [OK].
  15. Verify that the center display initial screen launches.
  16. Return to the M-MDS operation and press [Next].
  17. Switch the ignition OFF/main power OFF.
  18. Remove the USB memory.
  19. Clear the data in the USB memory.
  20. Remove the battery charger from the vehicle.
