VERIFY IF CHARACTERISTIC LEARNING IS COMPLETED
- Verify if cylinder deactivation control has not been implemented directly after the following servicing.
- Directly after battery removal
- Directly after PCM configuration
- Does the non-implementation of the cylinder deactivation control apply to the above conditions?

Yes |
Explain to the customer that cylinder deactivation control has not been implemented because the characteristic learning is not completed. Go to Step 7. |

| 2 |
VERIFY HOW CUSTOMER DRIVES VEHICLE
- Verify if cylinder deactivation control has not been implemented under the following situations.
Driving condition
- Vehicle speed: 5 km/h {3 mph} or less Engine torque is large
- Accelerator pedal depression amount is large
- Accelerator pedal operation is too aggressive
- Large amount of vehicle load Insufficient engine warm-up
- Right after engine start Engine coolant or engine oil temperature is high
- Continuous, high-load driving DSC operation
- During or directly after DSC operation Cylinder deactivation continues for long periods
- Cylinder deactivation condition continues for 5 min or more
NOTE:
- Cylinder deactivation control does not operate for approx. 30 s after cylinder deactivation control is continued for 5 min or more.
- Is there an applicable item for the situation in which cylinder deactivation control is not implemented?

Yes |
Explain to the customer that the vehicle is normal and advise the customer how to drive the vehicle appropriately. Go to Step 7. |

Go to the next step. |

VERIFY PCM DTC

Yes |
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (VIN M))]

DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION CAUSED BY BATTERY BY VERIFYING BATTERY VOLTAGE

INSPECT BATTERY FOR MALFUNCTION

Repair or replace the malfunctioning location. (See BATTERY RECHARGING

VERIFY REPEATABILITY OF MALFUNCTION SYMPTOM
- Drive the vehicle 3 times under the following conditions.
- Deceleration continues for approx. 6 s with accelerator pedal and brake pedal released while driving at a speed of approx. 60 km/h {37 mph} or more.
- Verify that cylinder deactivation control is implemented on the display screen of the center display.
- Has cylinder deactivation control been implemented?

Go to the next step. |

Replace the PCM. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (VIN M)]
). Go to the next step. |
| 7 |
Verify the test results.
- If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms. (See SYMPTOM DIAGNOSTIC INDEX [SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (VIN M)] ).
- If the malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Bulletins and/or On-line Repair Information and perform repair or diagnosis.
- If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting is completed.
- If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, reprogram the PCM if a later calibration is available. Retest.
