DTC P0401-00: (PCM, VIN Y) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

DESCRIPTION EGR flow insufficient detected
DETECTION CONDITION Determination conditions
  • When the following condition is met, the EGR volume is lower than the specification for the target value for a continuous specified time.
Preconditions
  • 2 s has passed since the following conditions are met:
  • Intake air temperature: -3.0 °C {37 °F} or more(1)
  • Engine coolant temperature: 65.0 °C {149 °F} or more(1)
  • Engine speed: 1, 400-2, 600 rpm(1)
  • Fuel injection control: during fuel cut
  • The following DTCs are not detected:
  • Intake valve timing control system: P0010-00:, P0011-00:, and P0012-00:
  • CKP sensor and intake CMP sensor: P0016-00:
  • TP sensor: P0122-00:, P0123-00:, and P2135-00:
  • ECT sensor No. 1: P0116-00:, P0117-00:, and P0118-00:
  • MAP sensor: P0069-00:, P0107-00: and P0108-00:
  • EGR valve control system: P0403-00:
  • MAF sensor: P0101-00:, P0102-00:, and P0103-00:
  • Exhaust gas pressure sensor: P0472-00: and P0473-00:
  • Boost pressure sensor: P0237-00: and P0238-00:
    • HO2S: P013A-00:
  • Intake manifold is normal
  • Difference between target valve timing and actual valve timing of electric variable valve timing: 3° or less
  • Purge control: not active
    • Charging efficiency: above 0.26

VEHICLE STATUS WHEN DTCs ARE OUTPUT
  • The following vehicle conditions differ depending on the type of malfunction
  • Illuminates the check engine light
POSSIBLE CAUSE
  • Erratic signal to PCM
    • MAF sensor signal malfunction
    • MAP sensor signal malfunction
    • Input signal part connector or terminals malfunction
    • Input signal part related circuit malfunction
  • EGR valve malfunction (stuck close)
  • Air suction in intake air system between dynamic pressure turbo (DPT) and intake manifold
  • EGR system passage malfunction (restriction)
  • Exhaust gas pressure sensor malfunction
  • PCM malfunction
