ENGINE STALLS WHEN SHIFTED TO D, M OR R POSITION (GW6A-EL, GW6AX-EL) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step	Inspection	Results	Action
1	INSPECT ENGINE SYSTEM OR AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OPERATION FOR MALFUNCTION Perform the symptom troubleshooting "ENGINE STALLS-AFTER START/AT IDLE" and "LOW IDLE/STALLS DURING DECELERATION". 1 (See NO. 5 ENGINE STALLS-AFTER START/AT IDLE [VIN Y] .) (See NO. 10 LOW IDLE/STALLS DURING DECELERATION [VIN Y] .) Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION IS DUE TO TORQUE CONVERTER OPERATION MALFUNCTION Verify the malfunction symptom. Does the engine stall in the R position?	Yes	Replace the torque converter. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [GW6A-EL (VIN Y)] .) (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [GW6AX-EL (VIN Y)] .)
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION IS DUE TO TCC SOLENOID VALVE OPERATION MALFUNCTION OR AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE INTERNAL MALFUNCTION Verify the malfunction symptom. Does the engine stall in the D or M position?	Yes	Replace the control valve body. (See CONTROL VALVE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
3		No	Replace the automatic transaxle. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [GW6A-EL (VIN Y)] .) (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [GW6AX-EL (VIN Y)] .)
