Evaporator Temperature Sensor Inspection (Manual A/C)

NOTE:
  • Inspect the evaporator temperature sensor when it is installed to the A/C unit.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION (US) .)
  2. Connect the negative battery terminal.
  3. Switch the ignition ON (engine on).
  4. Set the fan speed to MAX HI.
  5. Set the temperature control to MAX COLD.
  6. Set to the RECIRCULATE mode.
  7. Turn the A/C switch off.
  8. Close all doors and windows.
  9. Wait for 5 min.
  10. Switch the ignition off.
  11. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  12. Disconnect the evaporator temperature sensor connector.
  13. Measure the temperature at the blower inlet.
  14. Measure the resistance between the evaporator temperature sensor terminals A and B.

    • If the resistance is not as shown in the graph, replace the evaporator temperature sensor.
