Diagnostic Procedure

DTC U2300:54, U2300:55 OR U2300:56 (ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS)) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step	Inspection	Results	Action
1	RECORD CONFIGURATION DATA Switch the ignition off. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on), and maintain this condition for approx. 1 min. Switch the ignition off, and maintain this condition for approx. 3 s. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).	-	Go to the next step.
2	VERIFY EPS CONTROL MODULE DTC Using the M-MDS, clear the DTC from the EPS control module. (See CLEARING DTC .) Using the M-MDS, perform the EPS control module DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION .) Is the same Pending DTC present?	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. If the malfunction recurs, go to the next step.
2		No	Perform the repair completion verification.
3	VERIFY BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) DTC Using the M-MDS, perform the body control module (BCM) DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION .) Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) (US)] .) Repair the body control module (BCM), then perform the configuration for the body control module (BCM). (See CONFIGURATION .)
3		No	Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 1	VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED Using the M-MDS, clear the DTC from the EPS control module. (See CLEARING DTC .) Using the M-MDS, perform the EPS control module DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION .) Is the same Pending DTC present?	Yes	Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW (US) .) If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1. If the malfunction recurs, replace the EPS control module. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .) Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 1		No	Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2	VERIFY NO DTC IS PRESENT Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE (ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) (US)) .)
Repair completion verification 2	VERIFY NO DTC IS PRESENT Are any DTCs present?	No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
