DTC P0463-00: Fuel Gauge Sender Unit Circuit High Input (Us): AWD: Outline

DTC P0463:00 (PCM, SKYACTIV-G, US) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE - AWD

System malfunction location Fuel gauge sender unit circuit high input
Detection condition
  • The PCM monitors the fuel level signal and fuel gauge sender unit output voltage from the instrument cluster. If the PCM detects that the fuel level, fuel gauge sender unit (main), or fuel gauge sender unit (sub) output voltage is too high, the PCM determines that the fuel gauge sender unit (main) or fuel gauge sender unit (sub) circuit has a malfunction.
Fail-safe
  • Not applicable
Possible cause
  • Fuel gauge sender unit (main) connector or terminals malfunction
  • Fuel gauge sender unit (sub) connector or terminals malfunction
  • Electrical supply unit (ESU) connector or terminals malfunction
  • Short to power supply in fuel gauge sender unit (main) signal circuit
  • Short to power supply in fuel gauge sender unit (sub) signal circuit
  • Open circuit in any of the following fuel gauge sender unit (main) circuits.
    • Signal circuit
      • Ground circuit
  • Open circuit in any of the following fuel gauge sender unit (sub) circuits.
    • Signal circuit
      • Ground circuit
  • Fuel gauge sender unit (main) malfunction
  • Fuel gauge sender unit (sub) malfunction
  • Electrical supply unit (ESU) malfunction
  • Instrument cluster malfunction
  • PCM malfunction
