Diagnostic Procedure

SULFURIC SMELL OCCURS (SKYACTIV-G) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step Inspection Results Action
1 VERIFY PCM DTC
  • Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
  • Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
(See DTC TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-G (US))] .)
No Go to the next step.
2 VERIFY FUEL USED
  • Verify with the customer if the fuel brand used was changed before the occurrence of sulfuric smell.
  • Was the fuel brand used changed?
Yes The vehicle is normal. Explain the following to the customer.
  • Sulfuric smell occurred due to high sulfur content in the fuel
  • Occurrence of sulfuric smell does not affect the driving performance or durability of the vehicle

Complete the symptom troubleshooting.
No The vehicle is normal. Explain the following to the customer.
  • The vehicle is normal
  • The mechanism of sulfuric smell occurrence
  • Occurrence of sulfuric smell does not affect the driving performance or durability of the vehicle

Complete the symptom troubleshooting.
