Driver-side knee air bag module

- Remove the following parts:
- Driver-side front scuff plate (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Driver-side front side trim (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Driver-side decoration panel (See DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Passenger-side decoration panel (See DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Driver-side lower panel (See LOWER PANEL DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY (US) .)
- Driver-side knee air bag module (See KNEE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US/CANADA) .)
- Remove the knee air bag module from the air bag case.
- Remove the clip.
- Remove the nuts.
- Remove the cover.
- Pull out the connector stopper plate using a flathead screwdriver.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Connect the processing wiring harness to the knee air bag module.
- Install the cover.
- Install the nuts.
- Install the knee air bag module. (See KNEE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US/CANADA) .)
- Verify that all persons are standing at least 6 m {19 ft} away from the vehicle.
- Untwist the processing wiring harness.
- Connect the processing wiring harness to the lead-acid battery and activate the inflator.
WARNING:
- The air bag module is very hot immediately after activation (deployment) and can cause burns if touched. Leave the actuator alone for approx. 15 min or more after activation (deployment) to let it cool down before handling.
