Propeller Shaft Inspection

Remove the propeller shaft. (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)

Measure the propeller shaft center runout using the dial gauge.

PROPELLER SHAFT MAXIMUM RUNOUT SPECIFICATION

No.	Specification (reference)
1	0.8 mm {0.031 in}
2	1.0 mm {0.039 in}

If it exceeds the maximum specification, replace the propeller shaft as a single component. (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)

Inspect the play and rotation of the joint by turning the universal joint in the directions shown by the arrows.

0.3-1.0 N.m {3.1-10 kgf.cm, 2.7-8.8 in.lbf}

If it is not within the specification, replace the propeller shaft. (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
