DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit the glass run channel of the front door interfering with the rear door garnish.
This is caused by the front door glass run channel not being fixed strongly enough to the door for the following situations where the cycles of door operation may result in interference and lead to damage on the rear door garnish.
- When the front door glass is closed, the glass run channel may be forced to move to the B pillar side.
- During very hot weather, the glass run channel may expand to the B pillar side.
To eliminate this concern, the design of the front door glass run channel has been changed to be fixed stronger to the door.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
- Verify the customer condern.
- Replace the front door glass run-channels with modified ones, regardless if the other side is damaged or not, following the instructions on MGSS (FRONT DOOR GLASS RUN-CHANNEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
- The outer beltline molding does not need to be removed/replaced for this repair, even though the procedure on MGSS instructs to do so.
- The service hole cover No.1 does not need to be replaced with new one, even though the procedure on MGSS instruct to do so.
- It is highly recommended to remove all broken clips from the sails and door garnishes before installing any new parts on the vehicle.
- Use a plastic scraper and some adhesive remover when cleaning the double-sided tape residue from the pillars.
- Depending on the parts level (suffix M or later), the corner bracket is integrated to the new glass run-channel. If the obtained part is one of these, remove the old corner bracket from the vehicle.
- If the vehicle is NOT equipped with accessory side window deflectors, select job type A, B or C, depending on the damage on the rear door garnish.
- If the vehicle is equipped with accessory side window deflectors, select job type D.
