DTC C1128-2A: Electric Parking Brake Switch Circuit Malfunction: Notes

Description Electric parking brake switch circuit malfunction
Detection condition 
  • Electric parking brake control module detects the operation or release of the electric parking brake switch for a continuous 30 s while the vehicle is stopped.
Fail-safe 
  • The electric parking brake control module operates the electric parking brake under any of the following conditions while the vehicle is stopped.
    • Ignition is switched ON (engine off or on) and selector lever is in P or N position (ATX)
    • Ignition is switched ON (engine off or on) and shift lever is in neutral position (MTX)
    • Ignition is switched ON (engine off or on) and driver's door is open from closed condition
    • Ignition is switched off and brake pedal is depressed
    • Ignition is switched off and driver's door is open
Possible cause 
CAUTION:
  • When the electric parking brake switch is continuously pulled up/pressed down for a long period, DTCs may be detected. Therefore, always verify that DTCs being detected are due to how the customer has operated the switch.
  • Electric parking brake switch malfunction
    • Electric parking brake switch is mechanically stuck
  • Electric parking brake control module malfunction
