Front Seat Removal/Installation

WARNING:
- Handling a front seat equipped with a side air bag improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions in the workshop service information before handling the front seat (side air bag integrated). - If the sliding mechanisms on both sides are not locked after assembling the front seat, the front seat will operate accidentally while the vehicle is driven, which could result in serious injury. After assembling the front seat, shake it up and down and verify that the sliding mechanism on the both sides are locked. (With manual seat)
CAUTION:
- After the front seat has been removed, if the slider lever is operated and the front seat is reinstalled with the left/right slide positions deviated, the adjuster unit could be damaged. After removing a front seat, do not operate the slider lever. (With manual seat)
- Verify that there are no malfunctions in the forward/back slide of the seat and in the adjuster unit after installing a front seat.
- When performing the procedure with a front seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure on a clean cloth so as not to damage or dirty the seat.
- When the passenger's seat is removed, perform the occupant classification sensor inspection using the M-MDS after installing the passenger's seat. (See OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR INSPECTION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .)
- When the passenger's seat is replaced with a new one, perform the occupant classification sensor calibration using the M-MDS. (See OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR CALIBRATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .)
NOTE:
- When removing the front seat from the vehicle or putting it back in, it can be performed smoothly by removing the head restraint.
- Slide the front seat to the positions where the bolts shown in the figure can be removed.
- Remove the bolts in the order of (1), (2) shown in the figure.
- Slide the front seat to the positions where the bolts shown in the figure can be removed.
- Remove the bolts in the order of (3), (4) shown in the figure.
- Switch the ignition off.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- While pressing area A of the connector in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, move the lever in the direction of arrow (2) and detach the tabs.
- Disconnect the connectors in the direction of arrow (3) shown in the figure.
- Remove the front seat.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
